Our Story

First Missionary Baptist of Goodlettsville Story

First Missionary Baptist Church of Goodlettsville (FMBCG) is a historical church which was started in 1923 by community leaders who dreamed of providing a safe, God led environment for all faithful believers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Through the years, by the providential care of the most high, FMBG has endured the ebbs and flow of the Goodlettsville community while maintaining its steadfast devotion to community service, abundant worship, and seeking the lost.  FMBG has been blessed to be led by three incredible men of God who accepted the call and stood on the infallible, incorruptible word of God.  

Created from the same cloth, current Pastor, Kevin D. Colon accepted the call to lead FMBCG in October 2014.  Since his instalment, Pastor Colon and First Lady Terri, vision of growing FMBCG forward has been rooted in the uncompromising belief that FMBCG will continue to be the arms of God for the Goodlettsville and surrounding communities. We envision a place where people can begin and build a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and with fellow believers, where people do life together in a genuine community, and where people grow spiritually in an atmosphere where the grace of God is highly celebrated. We envision a church where real problems are solved and real needs are met as people are drawn closer to God, where people recover from hurts, habits, and hang-ups that prevent them from enjoying meaningful relationships with God and each other. We envision a church where God’s Word is honored as our highest authority on earth and as the source of real and abundant life. We envision a church where people serve one another according to the way that God has shaped them, where spiritual gifts, passion, talents, and experiences are a part of how we meet the needs of others inside and outside of our church family. We envision a church that is the cornerstone the community, that makes a visible, noticeable, and tangible difference on behalf of Christ in the real circumstances of its community partners. We envision a church that celebrates changed lives, that cultivates an atmosphere of freedom to grow and serve, and that empowers people with the confidence to do so.
